The plastic rudder cable fairings were too short to cover the cable slots. Instead of patching the excess slot, I decided to try making the fairings from the kit supplied aluminum blanks, C04-04.
I used some 2x3 blocks clamped to the bench to make the "fixture" to form the rudder cable fairings. A 1/2" copper pipe was about the correct diameter to force the fairing blank into the slot between the blocks. The picture shows the flanges bent, but those were actually done after forming the center bend.
F01, detail C, shows installation of the fairings using AN530-6-6 sheet metal screws. I saw no need to remove the fairings often, so I used none structural aluminum rivets for a more secure installation and are still easy to drill out if necessary. With the fairing in place, the swagged ends of the cable can still be fed through the fuselage for cable inspection/replacement.
